VOLUNTEER

Give an hour. Give a Saturday. Give your best.

We all have special talents and things we can do to help. When we extend a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. Whether it’s reading to children, leading financial literacy classes for hard-working families or delivering meals to home-bound seniors, there are hundreds of volunteer options available every day.

Give the gift of you. Volunteer.

United Way Volunteer Opportunities

Read United

United Way’s Read United program pairs volunteers with students who are struggling to read at grade level. Volunteers change the game when they read with students. United Way knows that children who read at or above grade-level are more likely to succeed in school and in life. Students can achieve this through the support of their volunteer tutors. They also grow in confidence and find an appreciation for reading with the help of our dedicated volunteers. All it takes is one hour a week. Or, partner with another volunteer and alternate weeks.

Reading Club

United Way is currently seeking passionate volunteers to assist with Reading Club for the 2019-2020 school year at local elementary schools. Volunteers help third graders improve their reading and comprehension skills. For more information about this opportunity, select the Reading Club tab in the interest form below.

Free Tax Prep

Interested in tax preparation and giving back to your community? During tax time, United Way supports two local programs benefiting the community. The tax assistance program allows people to file their taxes in-person for free with the assistance of an IRS-trained volunteers. To get involved, use the interest form below. For the 2018 tax-season volunteers are needed to assist with intake as clients arrive.

Day of Action/ Day of Caring

Day of Action normally falls in September. On this day, volunteers from around Delaware and Henry Counties will come together to serve partnering non-profits. United Way will match participating non-profits with motivated volunteers from local businesses and service groups who dedicate their time and effort to improve our community.  For more information on Delaware County’s Day of Action click here.
