Mark, a 3rd grader at East Washington Academy, had a major reading deficiency when he joined the Boys & Girls Club. Every day was a struggle to get Mark to sit down and read. On the days that he would read, it was nearly impossible for him to read at grade-level.
Because of funds provided by United Way of Delaware County and loyal donors like you, the Boys & Girls Club found Mark a tutor to hold one-on-one, hour long reading sessions with him three days a week. Within a few months, Mark looked forward to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays because he knew he would have a reading session on those days. By the end of the semester, Mark was reading full sentences in grade-level appropriate books. Through your donations and Boys and Girls Club, persistence and dedication have made a positive impact on Mark’s future—thank you!
Your support provided Mark the one-on-one support he needed to jumpstart his literacy skills. More children in our community need this specialized support, and you can help. Will you make an impact in a child’s future today?
