Last winter, HomeSavers of Delaware County received a phone call from a Joan, a retired woman in Delaware County who was bringing her husband home from the hospital. The family’s furnace was broken and would not stay on long enough to heat the house. Not only were they cold, but they also faced the danger that their water pipes would freeze and break. Because of United Way support and help from donors like you, HomeSavers’ Executive Director arranged for a heating company to visit the home and repair the furnace.

Joan also had difficulty getting her husband in and out of the house for doctor appointments due to their lack of a ramp from the front door to the driveway. In the spring, as soon as the weather was warm, Ball State students came to their home and built a ramp. You helped Joan and her husband meet their basic needs—thank you!

Because of donors like you, HomeSavers could pay for both the furnace repair and the ramp building materials! There are still many families in Delaware County who need help meeting their basic needs. You can help them. Will you make an impact today?
