We have one life. To live better, we must Live United.

When we live better by living united, we make Delaware County a better place for all to live, work, and play. To reach this goal, we must get to work.

Today, nearly half of Delaware County households live in poverty or are one crisis away from it. These working families (or ALICE—Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed) face obstacles in reaching health, education, and financial stability. They need access to beneficial community resources to survive—and this is why we need your help.

The community's future is at stake, but we have a vision for moving forward. We have a plan that empowers us to Live United in working toward a prosperous future for Delaware County. With a bold goal of having all third graders reading at grade level by 2024, we are already making strides toward a better tomorrow. We are on our way, but we need your support.

We need individuals to step up and become the hand-raisers and the take-on-the-impossible-task-masters. We need gracious donors to make essential programs possible. Now is the time to conquer generational poverty and create a better future for Delaware County. We have one life. To live better, we must Live United.

The Correlation between reading at Grade level by third grade and eliminating the cycle of generational poverty:

BY THIRD GRADE, CHILDREN MAKE THE SWITCH FROM LEARNING TO READ, TO COMPREHENDING WHAT THEY ARE READING. WHEN THEY READ AT GRADE LEVEL BY THIS TIME, THEY ARE MORE LIKELY TO:

GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL AND PURSUE HIGHER EDUCATION

AVOID CRIME AND CONTRIBUTE TO A LOWER OVERALL CRIME RATE

EARN A HIGHER MEDIAN INCOME & BECOME A PRODUCTIVE MEMBER OF SOCIETY

END GENERATIONAL POVERTY LONG-TERM

CAMPAIGN ARTICLES:

We're sharing the stories of families living and working in Delaware Country and having a tough time making ends meet. United Way funding, made possible by kind donors like you, provides these families with the lifeline they need to become more financially stable. These working families are the home health aids caring for your parents, the bus drivers providing reliable transportation for your children, and the mechanics who are there for you when you need a little extra assistance—and they need your help.
