United Way of Delaware County will seek funny or inspirational headline suggestions for its fundraising campaign. The United Way’s “A Brighter Headline” campaign is built around what could be positive, albeit tongue-in-cheek, news headlines from the year 2020 -- if people donate to the United Way and the efforts it supports.
Headlines should be based on United Way BOLD GOALS for 2020. The current downturn in the economy and its negative effects on thousands of people in our community emphasizes the need for the kind of ambitious action these BOLD GOALS represent. We are creating brighter headlines for tomorrow!
By 2020 80% of children in Delaware County will meet age appropriate benchmarks at Kindergarten entrance.
Families are financially stable through gaining assets and building savings as a result of having stable and adequate income and financial resources.
By 2020 85% of Delaware County residents will utilize a primary care provider.
The 25 best suggestions will receive a prize package, T-shirt, and the headlines will be put to an online public vote for the best.
The winning headline will receive a prize package and be featured on a large billboard in the heart of the community sponsored by Burkhart Advertising. The winner of the contest will also be invited to speak on air at local radio stations about their headline and United Way of Delaware County.
Submissions for headlines will be accepted beginning June 28 through August 12. The top 25 will be posted online for August 14 through August 28. The winner will be announced September 5 at the 2014 United Way Campaign Kickoff and the billboard will be revealed.
